Organizations must carefully re-examine their security procedures to make sure they’re adequate for the new work-from-home environment during the COVID-19 crisis, says Shelton Newsham, a British law enforcement official who specializes in cybersecurity.

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, he advises: “Revisit your recovery plans: Are they still suitable? Look at the redundancy of staff: Are those staff still available? Have you reviewed the escalation process for an issue? Does it need streamlining to be more effective in this new working environment?”

Shelton has over 18 years’ experience in law enforcement. He is currently the cyber prevent, cyber protect and fraud protect lead at the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Cyber Crime Team, a British law enforcement investigation unit. He works closely with investigation teams at UK government agencies and international law enforcement organizations.
