But regardless of the remote channel used, the security risks and technology are the same for banking institutions, says Bob Meara, senior analyst for financial consultancy Celent.

Before joining Celent, Meara was the director of product marketing at Alogent, where launched a series of Check 21 payments solutions. Meara also worked as a senior consultant at Stonebridge Technologies, where he developed e-marketing, CRM and Internet branding strategies for his clients. Previously, Meara held positions in marketing and brand management at Telemate.net Software, BellSouth, Hayes Corp. and Procter & Gamble. Meara holds a bachelor's degree in applied physics and electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
