RSA Preview: Looks Big, Bold

RSA Preview: Looks Big, Bold

So, I snuck into San Francisco two days early this year, thinking I'd enjoy some quiet time in the press room of the Moscone Center on the eve before the real kickoff of the 2010 RSA Conference.

Boy, was I wrong.

Even on Sunday the streets around the center were filled with early registrants wearing their badges and meandering between pre-show tutorials.

On Monday, as the tutorials continued and special sessions were convened, the conference center started to fill. My personal barometers: The press room was comfortably filled at noontime, when lunch was served. And just after lunch, the line to the Innovation Sandbox was backed up in the hallway to an extent I haven't seen since Melissa Hathaway keynoted here last year.

Caught up with a vendor friend as he left the show floor, and his take was that the RSA expo this year is easily 1/3 larger than it was last year.

So, are we expecting record attendance at this year's event? Stay tuned later today for an update.

Today is also the day, don't forget, when I'm announcing the preliminary results of the 2010 Banking Information Security Today survey. My presentation is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. in Orange Room 302 at the Moscone Center.

For a preview of the conference session, you can hear a podcast interview with me on the topic.

And not to give too much away - we'll be announcing the results soon on our own websites - but I'll leave you with this: Fraud prevention and security training are going to be two of the biggest stories of 2010. Let's just hope they both have happy endings.

If you're at the RSA Conference and can attend my session, please introduce yourself. If you can't make the session but are at the event anyway, drop me a note. Let's meet and say hello. Next: The RSA Conference heats up.
