President's Cybersecurity Report Acknowledges Our Work

To be filed under the category of "One small step, one giant leap ..."

It's just come to my attention that when President Obama revealed his administration's Cyberspace Policy Review at the end of May, the document's introduction featured a prominent reference to an article published on our sites in February of this year.

The reference comes on the second page of the review document's introduction (page 12 of the actual 76-page report), and it points to a piece written by Linda McGlasson on the RBS WorldPay breach.

In the scheme of things, this was hardly our biggest story of the year. I'd look to the Heartland Payment Systems data breach for that honor.

But for our work to be referenced in a White House document - the most eagerly-awaited document of the year, mind you? This is huge for us.

I don't know that "arrival" is the right word - perhaps "validating" is better. But what this small bit of recognition shows is what giant leaps our company has taken over the past few years, evolving from a fresh start-up operation to a vibrant news organization that ... well, that gets the attention of the nation's top policymakers.

This is a solid win for BankInfoSecurity.com and CUinfoSecurity.com, which have been providing news, views and training for up to three years now. And it's a great coup out of the gate for our newest site, GovInfoSecurity.com, which just launched three months ago.

It's great to be read, thrilling to be recognized, and I can promise you it's a reminder to all of us that the work we do matters, and we need to continue to do it thoroughly, timely and well.

Just thought I'd share...
